1.

This is always the hardest section for me to write—by now, I think I have pretty much exhausted all possible topics that could apply to my life with regards to this section of the journal. However, I can say that I am currently trying to figure out whether or not there are any summer jobs that I might be able to perform, as I would very much like to have a job over this summer (before coming back to school in the fall). As of yet, however, I have not been able to come up with any ideas of summer jobs that are not heavy on hand usage and typing or lifting (ie, cashiers, stockroom, data entry….).

2.

The team project is still going well—Mahlet and I have been meeting with Adam every Thursday, and in addition we recently attended a meeting of the entire inventory group and presented our data model, which went over well.

3.

I would suggest in the future potentially making this course shorter in terms of how many hours it is—I can’t recall any times so far when we have used more than half of the official class time. (Of course, we’ll probably use more time on presentation days that we have been so far….). Still, if at all possible, such a change might allow students to take this course in the future to potentially fit more classes into their schedule.

March 1st, 2005

1.

After discussion with my parents and advisors, I have finalized my decision (discussed as a possible plan in my last entry) to return to Augsburg in the fall for one more semester, thereby allowing myself to finish the one general education perspective I will have left to complete after this semester, and also thereby giving myself another six months of time to try and heal before having to look for and try to hold down a job.

2.

The team project is going fairly well. Mahlet and I are still working very well together, and the issue of us having to try and learn Zope seems to have been resolved, for the most part. The one thing that I would say isn’t going quite well is that we have run into a difficulty on our Access prototype. It would be great if we could get together with you at some point tomorrow and go over how we might be able to fix it.

3.

I like having the team websites, it makes it much easier to keep track of project documents, rather than having to sort through your e-mail to find the files that you need.

1.

As stated before, I am not actively involved in a job search at this point, although I wish I could be. I am, however, planning to potentially return to Augsburg in the fall to take two classes part-time, as even after this semester I will have one course (a general education religion perspective) left to take. By doing so, I also hope to be able to maintain my “in-school” status for another six months, and buy myself enough time to potentially heal and be able to work before I must begin paying back my student loans.

2.

Mahlet and I are still working well together, and have completed the initial project related documents such as the project charter, scope statement, and problem statement matrix, as well as our first progress report. So far, the main issue which may become a problem with the project is that neither of us thinks that we can learn Zope. Hopefully, we will be able to make Adam understand this, and will be able to find other ways of contributing to the project.

3.

I still like being able to post these entries on my blog, rather than having to send them by e-mail. I definitely think that you should continue having students use the blog method for all future classes which require journals such as this.

Jan. 31 2005

1. As mentioned, I am unfortunatly not preforming a job search at this time. I will probably be attending the job fair anyways, just in case there is some type of job there that I might actually be able to preform at this point. In the "saga of the hand" (or so I am beginnning to think of it after so long), I am seeing yet another doctor. Hopefully, this one will pan out and I will actually get the results I have been hoping for for so long now! As an alternative to the job search, I am still getting badgered by my mother about graduate school (and am giving it slight consideration), but I don't think she understands how much grad school costs...

2. Mahlet and I seem to work well together, and our schedules appear to be rather comaptible as well, which is excellent. We are meeting together again tomarrow, and from there will then meet with our project sponser for the first time at 2 PM.

3. As we have only had two classes, I cannot yet speak much to what I have really liked or disliked recently. However, I do like posting these journals on the blog instead of e-mail--it seems to me that doing such will make them much easier to keep track of, and will also make it much easier for both you and I to review them and see how they progress. It also means there is much less chance of an entry getting lost in cyberspace and never finding its' way to your inbox!
